The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) on May 19, 2026, notified regarding the CAQM Enforcement Task Force reviews compliance status across NCR.
The 131st meeting of the Enforcement Task Force (ETF) under the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) was held on May 18, 2026, to review enforcement actions and compliance status across NCR for the period April 29 to May 10, 2026. During this period, 125 inspections were conducted by Flying Squads, leading to the detection of 39 violations across Construction & Demolition (C&D) sites, industrial units, and Diesel Generator (DG) sets. Violations included 10 each in C&D and industrial sectors, and 19 related to DG sets.
Enforcement actions proposed based on these violations included closure of 7 units/projects, sealing of 13 DG sets, issuance of 12 show cause notices, environmental compensation in 4 cases, and advisories in 3 cases. Some actions have already been executed, while others are under process. The Task Force also noted that all actionable cases from the previous (130th) meeting have been addressed, and 17 resumption orders have been issued after compliance verification.
he ETF reviewed road dust mitigation efforts, noting inspections by the NOIDA Authority covering 46 areas, with 28 violations identified and notices issued for repeat offenders. Emphasis was placed on timely submission of inspection reports with evidence, verification of fuel usage, DG set compliance, and adherence to Consent to Operate (CTO) conditions.
Cumulatively, as of May 18, 2026, 27,133 inspections have been conducted, resulting in 1,784 closure directions, of which 1,382 units have resumed operations after compliance. Additionally, 123 cases have been referred to SPCBs/DPCC, and 279 cases remain under examination. The Commission stressed the need for stronger enforcement, better coordination, timely compliance verification, and focused action in key pollution sectors to effectively control air pollution in NCR.
